MA3 Installation:

This product can be either fixed with adhesive or adhesive and screws, however, we always recommend an adhesive and screw installation for added piece of mind.

The adhesive used should always be suitable for external use, we recommend the use of our Multitread Adhesive, and should always be used in line with the recommendations in the product datasheet. When fixing with adhesive only, use a product with high-strength mechanical properties that have been specifically designed for structural bonding. Therefore, cartridge adhesives used for fixing decorative nosings such as Gripfill or F32 are not recommended for this purpose.

  1. Ensure that all the steps to the installation are sound and relatively level. Remedy any defects with an appropriate repair medium and allow to fully cure.
  2. Place the pre-drilled profile on to the step and, through the holes, mark the fixing positions on to the step.
  3. Remove the piece and drill according to the installation substrate. For timber create pilot holes using a 1.5mm drill bit, for solid surfaces create holes for plastic plugs using a suitable 6mm drill bit, or create suitable holes based on the appropriate fixings for your application.
  4. Brush or vacuum away all drill dust and debris and insert the fixings (if using) flush with the step surface.
  5. Apply a two or three beads of adhesive to the underside of each piece (this may need to be adjusted based on installation substrate) and re-position on to the step to align holes in step with the holes in the nosing profile.
  6. Secure the nosing with suitable screws or fixings, ensuring the heads are flush with or slightly lower than the countersunk hole.
  7. Use an IPA cleaner to clean the channel of the now fixed nosing and ensure it is free form any debris or contaminants. Ensure all moisture and vapours have fully evaporated.
  8. Peel back part of the release liner on the insert then press the adhesive firmly onto the prepared surface, slowly keep peeling back the liner while applying the Insert. Try to ensure that the insert is not taut and stretched.
  9. Once applied, press the insert down firmly using even pressure with a hand roller. This will expel any air bubbles and help to achieve a good bond.
  10. Using a straight edge and a suitable sharp craft knife trim off any excess insert from both ends to complete the installation.
