General description:

Stairways can experience some of the most significant wear and tear in the workplace, even more so in busy work environments. With our heavy duty, GRP anti-slip stair nosings, you will not only help keep your staff safe from slipping but it will create a non-slip surface that can withstand continuous usage. The stair nosings that we provide are available in two grit grades.  To give the product its strength and durability, the surface of the nosing has been coated with an aluminium oxide grit to create the ultimate anti-slip surface.

When it comes to high traffic or demanding environments, it is important that the nosings are able to withstand physical stresses, changes in temperature and general wear and tear over the long term. Our products can withstand all of these things and they won’t warp, stretch or swell. The nosings have high contrasting colours which aid visibility and they feature a chamfered back edge to offer additional security.

Easy to install, you can simply drill the product down with mechanical fixings and they offer so much versatility, working well with almost any substrate. 10 year guarantee is also available against any breakage when correctly installed.

GRP Installation:

GRP Nosing’s can be installed either with adhesive or  with adhesive and screws, but to be safe we would always recommend using both particularly in heavy foot fall applications. Correct installation is vital to its performance. We recommend that you assess the installation substrate fully before fitting. It should be sound and reasonably level. Any remedial work must take place before installation.

We also recommend that the profile be installed with our Multitread Adhesive, and using stainless steel screws. Upon request we can supply your nosings predrilled ready for installation.

  1. Dry fit stair nosings to ensure they fit freely and that they sit flat down on the surface. If required they can be trimmed on site to suit, ideally using a skill saw with a 4mm diamond blade or an angle grinder with a 1mm blade. Please ensure that goggles and gloves are worn at all times when any form of cutting is involved.
  2. Drill two holes on each side of the top surface in the centre (grit surface), approximately 50mm in from the side, then approximately every 400-500mm. Dependant on the substrate it may be necessary to increase or decrease this spacing. For larger nosings, it may be necessary to have further fixing points in the centre of the tread. Pre-drilling the holes before drilling into the substrate is recommended.
  3. Dry fit the drilled nosing again and mark out the holes on the substrate, then drill the required holes for your fixings in the substrate material. Ensure any dust is removed and the area cleaned after drilling.
  4. Apply an 6mm bead (this may need to be increased dependant on the substrate conditions) of the adhesive around the periphery of the underside of the stair nosings approx. 15mm in from the edges. If you are fixing your nosing to carpet or similar material – you can skip the adhesive section of application. The adhesive is best applied using a skeleton gun.
  5. Immediately press the panel firmly to the substrate to ensure adequate transfer of adhesive (depending on the size of the bead, this will elevate the sheet by approximately 1-1.5mm). A firm bond will be achieved in about one hour under normal circumstances and conditions.

Returns:

We are unable to accept returns on this product as the nosings are cut to length per your requirements. Therefore please ensure you have your measurements correct and the product is suitable for application before purchasing, we are happy to offer samples free of charge and offer advice if you get in contact.
